Settling In

The apartments in our neighbourhood of Eixample are built on a block with a courtyard in the center. Most of buildings are about seven stories tall. The first floor is the shops, and the rest are apartments. Our fourth floor apartment is really the sixth floor, but there is also the entrada floor (we would call it the second) and then the primary (our third) before the numbers increase to second and up. Most buildings are narrow with two apartments on each floor. We have windows in the front and the back. This picture is the view of the back window, with views of the courtyard. As you can see this is also where the laundry gets hung up. The apartments on the lower levels have access to a courtyard, which is like their backyard.
We are starting to get into a schedule, though not every has switched their clocks to Spain time. After a later breakfast we are doing school work and going to the grocery store or market. Lunch is about 2:30 and after lunch we head out and check out a new part of the city. Eventually, Bronwyn and Aiden will be writing reports on different places, and art and archetecture that they have seen. Dinner is about 8-9pm. A new chore for Bronwyn and Aiden have been doing dishes, and eating three meals a day as a family, is a new experience for us also.

Hello, Neighbors (in St. Paul, that is), I'm enjoying reading about your adventures in Spain and looking forward to lots of updates. It was so kind of you to give us your blog address. You probably know that you have missed the COLDEST day of the year here in St. Paul. This morning the temperature on the thermometer in our yard was minus 14 degrees. It went up to about minus 1, but it's going back down again tonight. I hope you are having great weather in Spain!
Warm regards, Joan Wells (btw, my blogger identity is Enviro Granny)

Greetings
