Dijous gras

Well, today is January 31 and the beginning of Carnaval. Here in Catalonia it is Dijous gras or Fat Thursday. It is a day to try different parts of the pig, even desert is coca de llardons, sugarcoated nuggets of dried lard, if you can imagine. Apparently one town celebrates this day by throwing meringues at each other...

So this evening we are going to walk the main street and try and find some of these delicacies. Will report back later.

Hi there, Deens! This whole piggy celebration has me intrigued. Did you find any delicious delectables?
Great fun to read about your experiences. I'll look forward to further adventures!

The lard cahes were pretty similar to beaver tails, except they used lard, I guess. The real popular stuff is the bread - some on every corner!
