Bread: bakeries are everywhere, I think that I can count six within a block of our apartment. We like to get some fresh bread for breakfast each morning.
Olive oil: Spain produces a large amount of olive oil, much of what we purchase in North America as Italian olive oil actually comes from Spain. Denise and Bronwyn like mixing it with fresh garlic for dipping our bread.
Tomatoes: tomatoes are everywhere, some restaurants not only give you a basket of bread but a basket of tomatoes. One Catalan specialty is to crush ripe tomatoes into bread and then sprinkle olive oil on top.
Wine: wine is also in surplus. Our last 1 L bottle cost $.72. There is less expensive wine in tetra packs as well. It goes very well with the staples above.
With these, what else do you need?
