Joan Miro

Last night we went to the Joan Miro museum. (For all of those who don't know, Joan Miro is a famous Spanish painter and, contrary to what his name suggests, is a man) It was really interesting because it showed all of the different stages in his work. It started with basic painting and slowly evolved into painting for feelings. They also had some pieces of art that were donated by Miro's friends, like the picture. That is the mercury fountain. What makes it so cool is that instead of water, that is actual mercury flowing through. (It was encased in a big container.) There were two temporary exhibits in the museum as well. The first was really small and was a Japanese artist. It was good. The artist focused mostly on the loss of innocence. The second one was Chinese and was amazing, but that could be a little biased because I'm a sucker for good propaganda. It was all recent art and it commented on the state of post-Mao China.
